Mumbai is all geared up to host its first underwater festival. The Mumbai Underwater Festival aims to celebrate the underwater world and spirit of adventure.
The two-day aqua-sports event takes place on 6th and 7th May 2017, at Prabodhankar Thackeray Krida Sankul, a sports complex in Vile Parle, Mumbai.
The festival will operate in 3 zones – Underwater Zone, Action Zone and Visitor Zone, and be open to both swimmers and non-swimmers, aged 10 years and above.
The Underwater Zone features an Underwater Obstacle Course for certified divers, and Underwater Hockey for swimmers. Non-swimmers can sign up for an introductory session to SCUBA Diving with fun activities and a photo-booth in an 8 feet pool. Equipment for all underwater activities will be provided, you just need to bring along your swimwear.
Those who want to stay dry can head to the Action Zone and opt for Skateboarding (at the freshly built skatepark) or Slacklining (balance walking on a slack rope), or try their hand at Spikeball – the funky 2 vs 2 game which is kind of a modified and intense version of volleyball.
The Visitor Zone will showcase movie screenings and talks by experts, an underwater-photography exhibition, performances by professional slackliners, information and exclusive deals on SCUBA Diving around the world, and food trucks to satisfy your hunger pangs.
Tickets start from Rs. 500 (approx. SGD10) depending on the activities you choose,
and are selling out fast. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit the Mumbai Underwater Festival website.
